Gordon Bates

Gordon Bates joined Lonza in 2003 working in a number of roles of increasing responsibility within both the Operations and Commercial organizations. Gordon held roles within the Quality organization and led a manufacturing Operations site, before transitioning to the commercial organization where he led global CMO Sales, managed the Chemical and Microbial business unit before expanding his remit to oversee multiple business units as President of the Small Molecule Division. The Small Molecule division enables Lonza’s customers to successfully develop and supply new small molecules for patients by employing innovation in custom development and manufacturing across multiple drug substance and drug product enabling technologies throughout the drug life-cycle. Gordon has an MSc in Engineering Business Management and is based in the UK.
