Advancing induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based therapies requires more than scientific breakthroughs. Robust, scalable and commercially viable manufacturing processes also play a critical role. This poster shares lessons from Lonza’s experience in advancing iPSC technologies toward clinical and commercial manufacturing, from establishing its first GMP iPSC master cell bank in 2015 to scaling expansion and directed differentiation in 3–50 L bioreactors.

It explores key considerations in GMP cell banking, genetic stability, characterization and process development, alongside the role of automation, analytical methods and computational fluid dynamics modelling in supporting reliable scale-up. The poster also examines the transition from 2D culture to controlled 3D bioprocessing and approaches to seed-train development. Discover how planning for scale early and developing processes with commercial requirements in mind can support consistent quality and the industrialization of iPSC-derived therapies.
