The addition of high concentrations (0.1 - 10 mM) of ornithine or putrescine to EBV transformed human B lymphocyte or recombinant CHO rat or mouse myeloma serum-free suspension cultures resulted in most cases in an elevated product concentration. Under these conditions product formation was usually enhanced with little or no increase, and in many cases a decrease, in cell proliferation.
