In our Global Engineering Departement the Director, Project Delivery Lead (m/f/d) is assigned to one or multiple specific growth investment projects and is responsible for planning, managing and executing investment projects through the complete project pathway (on time, within budget, meeting required quality standards). The role provides leadership to the project team(s), builds and maintains relationships with internal customers, vendors and contractors. This is an engineering discipline role. You will have cross interaction with Lab Leads, validation engineers, facility management, and operations; mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations and legal requirements Responsible for delivery of project goals in terms of cost, time, functionality and according to client expectations.


Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivery of CAPEX SM-project goals in terms of cost, time, functionality, safety and according to client expectations and responsible for creating and implementing project plans that will meet the project's objectives through the Engineering, Design, Construction, Commissioning and Qualification phases

  • Establish project charter including scope of work, goals and deliverables together with the relevant project sponsor / E2E Lead to support business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

  • Ensure that the project meets the required safety and quality standards according to internal procedures and specifications as well as health authority requirements.

  • Clarifying roles and responsibilities within the project organization and developing full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.

  • Establishing the project team/ structure necessary to reach the project goals and ensures appropriate coaching/development/performance feedback to all direct reports in order to develop a strong and competent team.

  • Securing optimal flow of information within project organization and at interfaces with project Sponsor /E2E Lead/Project steering committee, and mediating in case of problems.

  • Creating, executing and updating project work plans as appropriate to meet the changing needs and requirements.

  • Reporting regularly in writing, including project progress reports, to ensure that it's on track and identify any potential issues. Includes both internal to Lonza stakeholders as well as ensuring external partners if needed are informed/aligned.

  • Ensure that the project complies with all relevant regulations and legal requirements.

Key requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering or related science discipline with at least 10+ years of relevant experience in CAPEX API projects

  • Deep knowledge in Project Management, Strategy and Execution incl. controlling and benchmarking

  • Deep knowledge of Chemical and/or Biotech/Pharma industry API manufacturing projects

  • High motivation, highly independent workstyle, driven personality, decisiveness

  • Challenging the status quo and looking for opportunities to make improvements

  • Leadership experience for cross functional matrix teams (10+ people)

  • Fluent English is a must and German a big advantage
