Prior to joining Lonza, I was looking for a new challenge when I saw the position for a material planner. I had never worked in life sciences before, but the job description seemed like a match. It looked like a very good opportunity.
Since I did not have a medical background, joining Lonza was a very interesting experience. I had a lot to learn (and still do), but From day one everyone was so kind and willing to help. I found everyone to be very approachable, which makes you feel very comfortable.
Since joining, I have continued to take steps forward and have progressed into my current role of operational buyer. I manage the performance of raw materials suppliers and work with stakeholders to onboard new raw materials.
In these Covid times, it is very hard to secure stock, which presents us with challenges every day. Keeping everything moving is the biggest challenge, but I like the group mentality in Geleen. We all work hard and everyone chips in wherever they can. We are a team, and working together to help patients by making sure production can continue is very rewarding.
