At our Visp site, you’ll lead a high-impact function that shapes the future of safety, sustainability, and site protection across one of Lonza’s most complex and dynamic manufacturing environments. This is a strategic leadership role where you’ll influence internal and external stakeholders, drive innovation, and contribute to Lonza’s long-term environmental and operational goals. You’ll be at the forefront of building a resilient, forward-thinking organization that protects people, assets, and the planet.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the Health, Safety, Environment (EHS), Sustainability and Site Protection function for the Visp site, covering security, fire brigade, medical services, emergency response, and business continuity
  • Lead a team of functional managers and professionals including contingent workers and external contractors
  • Define and execute the strategic direction and business model for EHS, Sustainability and Site Protection, aligned with Lonza’s global standards and local regulatory requirements
  • Build and maintain strong alliances and networks across internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful strategy execution and continuous improvement
  • Develop organizational capabilities to meet compliance with Swiss and international regulations, and conformance with international and Lonza standards
  • Shape a flexible, innovative and efficient organization that delivers measurable outcomes in safety, sustainability, and operational resilience
  • Represent Lonza in Swiss and cantonal committees, associations, and institutions
  • Set and implement site protection standards for Lonza and its partners on site, ensuring alignment and collaboration across joint ventures
  • Serve as sponsor or steering committee member for critical site sustainability, environmental, protection and infrastructure projects
  • Engage with governmental authorities and media as a trusted representative of Lonza
  • Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to cGMP standards, influencing behaviors and practices across the site

Key requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in the biopharma or pharmaceutical industry, with demonstrated leadership in EHS, sustainability, and strategic operations
  • Proven experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and organizational transformation
  • Deep understanding of cGMP, safety processes, and regulatory frameworks in manufacturing environments
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization and externally
  • Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams and managing external contractors and service providers
  • Familiarity with Swiss regulatory bodies and experience engaging with government authorities and media
  • A creative, inspiring personality who thrives in ambiguity and drives change through coaching and innovation
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen, with the ability to translate strategy into actionable outcomes
  • Commitment to ethical leadership and fostering a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement
  • Full fluency in both English and German
