The Role

We are currently looking for a Technologist II to join our Cell Culture Development (CCD) team. This role will concentrate on performing a range of lab-based tasks with meticulous attention to detail and adherence to standard methodologies in a regulated environment. The Technologist II is tasked with completing dynamically intricate tasks and starting to supply to team training and technical expertise development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete lab-based activities in accordance with good laboratory practices and cGMP where applicable.
  • Conduct increasingly complex laboratory work with high standards for safety, timeliness, and right-first-time (RFT) execution.
  • Take ownership of equipment, including maintenance, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain good housekeeping across all lab areas and participate in team rota systems as required.
  • Complete and peer-review laboratory documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Proactively raise technical issues and contribute to resolution activities.
  • Operate both standard and non-standard processes and techniques according to established documentation.
  • Provide hands-on training for junior staff and peers on routine tasks.
  • Develop a technical specialization (e.g., equipment, systems, or techniques), and act as a superuser or subject matter contact.
  • Prepare and deliver results summaries, reports, or presentations to appropriate collaborators.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in supporting additional departmental activities or cross-functional tasks as required.

Key requirements:

  • Education: BSc or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific or technical field (e.g., Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, or related subject area).
  • Preferred: Intermediate experience in basic upstream cell culture techniques (e.g., passaging, expansion, cryopreservation).
  • Desirable: Familiarity with bioreactor systems and cell culture process development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Experience with laboratory systems and documentation practices in a regulated environment.
  • Desirable: Experience with continuous improvement tools such as 6S, visual management, mistake proofing, and lean principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver concise, clear, and logical information.
  • Comfortable collaborating with internal collaborators across different teams.
  • Diligent with a proactive attitude toward learning and development.
  • Self-directed with the ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to meet team and departmental needs.
