As an Associate General Counsel, Director at Lonza AG, you will play a crucial role in crafting the future of our specialized modalities business platform in Europe. This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior legal expert to provide flawless legal advice and support to our ambitious teams. You will be at the forefront of legal strategy, working on complex projects that drive world-class outcomes for our organization!

Key responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate legal advice orally and in writing, providing guidance and strategic legal support to collaborators. You will navigate fast-paced environments and handle projects of significant complexity, acting independently or collaboratively within the Legal Department and with other team members

  • Serve as the key point of contact for the SPM Platform management team, leading contract drafting, negotiations, and other legal support. Your strategic value and competence will be integral to our success

  • Draft, review, and complete legal documents swiftly and accurately, either independently or with collaborators within SPM, meeting the fast-paced demands of our business

  • Conduct regular trainings for business units and enabling functions, ensuring our teams are proficient in legal matters and capable of mitigating risks

  • Proactively identify potential legal risks for Lonza and collaborate with relevant team members to implement solutions. This includes crafting new templates, providing legal training, and updating or drafting documents as needed

  • Maintain regular communication with peers and team members within the SPM Center of Excellence, encouraging awareness and building capability across the organization

  • Perform other duties as assigned, always aiming to drive positive outcomes for Lonza

Key requirements:

  • A Master’s Degree in Law is required, along with admittance to practice law in Switzerland or the EU

  • You should bring at least 10 years of experience in private practice or as in-house legal counsel

  • A strong commercial legal background and business legal experience are essential

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial for this role

  • Expertise in corporate law, intellectual property matters, and privacy laws is required

  • Experience with litigations and a solid understanding of quality and regulatory aspects related to pharmaceutical development and manufacturing (such as GMP) is necessary

  • A collaborative approach is crucial, as you will collaborate across functions and time zones to effectively represent the One Lonza strategy

  • Proficiency in English is a must, with German or Dutch as additional advantages
