As a Data Management and Statistical Expert, you will organize the process data management for the BioAtrium organization in Visp and the statistical evaluation of this data. You will assess the impact of global as well as local initiatives on the data flow, processing and storage of data and assure the continued process data analyses You will work to redefine data analytics at BioAtrium by using groundbreaking data science techniques, predictive analytics and next generation innovation tools into the MSAT team in BioAtrium. You will enthusiastically promote the adoption of advanced analytics and pervasive data driven thinking in Lonza culture and work optimally with scientists, engineers and various collaborators to understand ambiguous problems, assess data needs, develop/ maintain best-suited models and help strategize deployment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement process monitoring tools, process advisory and predictive process control tools to tackle sophisticated bioprocessing problems by using Multivariate Analysis and sophisticatedvanced statistical and data science techniques.
  • Complete and lead sophisticated scientific investigations for root cause analysis and to optimize process variables, providing knowledge and insight to Process Scientists and Engineers.
  • Design, build and implement tools that provide analytical insights. Develop comprehensive understanding of Lonza data structures and metrics to assess data needs, develop/ maintain best suited models, advocating and educating for improved utilization and understanding of how data science can benefit the site.
  • Maintain functional aspects of existing data management, analytics and reporting systems, implement enhancements, and maintain related workflows to effectively collect, analyze, and report information
  • Works with staff and customers to understand the business requirements and business processes.
  • Supports major site business initiatives to implement standards for the corporation’s data management program and complete various global governance processes for various master data elements.
  • Lead the investigation into process trends to support process monitoring requirements, support preparation of APR and CPV reports.
  • Support inspections and audits by customer and regulatory authorities.
  • Any other duties as assigned by your Supervisor/Manager.

Key requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Biology or related field
  • Excellent Organizational/Project Management skills
  • Strong skills in Statistical process control and Data analytics
  • Strong skills in Data Engineering
  • Proficient in encouraging dialogue with IT, Data Engineers, Statisticians, Biotech Experts, Process Automation, and Quality Assurance to bridge the language gaps between those customers
  • General knowledge about Process Validation and Computer System Validation
  • Experience with working in a (GMP) regulated environment is considered a plus.
  • Basic knowledge about Biotech manufacturing process
  • Independent with strong social skills and proficient in English

Software/IT skills:

Lonza uses specific (statistical) software to handle and control their processes. The applicant does not need to master initially all software programs, but must be eager and proficient in learning these software systems, put them into use and help the team in applying them to their efficient use:

  • Micorsoft Office: Word, Excel (proficient user), PowerBI
  • GDM Statistica (GMP tool for statistical analysis)
  • Any other Statistic software (JMP, Minitab or the like)
  • Delta V, MES or equivalent experience, SeeQ, SIMCA
  • SQL
