At Lonza we are currently expanding our commercial scale Fill & Finish Drug Product (DP) manufacturing facility. We are looking for an Operations Lead for two sub-projects of the overall growth investment program. The sub-projects are the expansion for two lyophilized vial filling lines with cytotoxic capabilities and the supporting infrastructure. In this role you will be the Operations Head with the main focus being to ensure the operational readiness of these new Filling lines.

Key responsibilities:

  • Secure the operational readiness of the new facility and for its operative takeover (after operational qualification, before performance qualification) and integration into the overall manufacturing network

  • Ensures timely end-user input throughout all phases of the project to facilitate Operational and Maintenance needs being incorporated in the technical solution definition

  • Ensures that Operation teams are built up early enough to allow effective C&Q activities, familiarisation with functionalities of equipment and installations and acquire in-depth technical understanding

  • Ensures Facility and Utility readiness in close collaboration with the Engineering team eg: Clean & Black utilities, HVAC, Clean Rooms, Maintenance, Waste handling etc. and collaborating closely with the existing Stein site

  • Implements the Lonza culture of openness for change, innovation, partnership and continuous improvement

  • Full responsibility for all aspects of people management such as qualification, development, coaching, hiring, pay decisions and performance issues

  • Budget responsibility for the Project and execution accordingly to plan and budget

  • Responsible for Project cost centre and to look for cost reduction initiatives

  • Responsible for developing goals and strategy and ensuring they are prioritised in line with the Lonza overall goals

Key requirements:

  • University Degree or equivalent experience in Pharmaceutical Sciences, chemistry, process engineering, or related fields

  • Strong technical background within Sterile Drug Product Manufacturing and Aseptic processing (Lyophilization and HPAPI) and GMP

  • Strong leadership skills. Must be capable of inspiring others, crafting a positive work climate where inter-departmental teamwork, mentoring and performance feedback are continuous

  • Strong communication skills in speaking, writing, and presenting often at higher levels (German & English), strong networking skills and a consistent record of engaging customers to develop positive relationships

  • Depth understanding of Operational Excellence to solve problems; good understanding of business and financial processes

  • Capex Project experience from an Operational perspective- Expansion, New Build, Re-purpose etc.
