Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.

Aligned with Lonza’s global sustainability strategy, this role drives energy efficiency and waste reduction programs, delivering efficient, balanced solutions. It collaborates across Waste and Energy Management, SGI, EHS, Corporate Sustainability, Procurement, and Business Platforms to implement the Net Zero and Energy Strategy at site level. Additionally, as the End-to-End Project Lead for key sustainability infrastructure projects, this role coordinates planning, execution, and start-up. The E2E leader owns program cost, scope, and schedule, ensuring business and sustainability objectives are met.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the site in implementing sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency measures, and waste reduction programs

  • In collaboration with on-site experts, track and report energy- and water consumption, waste reduction, carbon footprint improvements, and cost savings

  • Prepare sustainability meetings and ensure reporting on site-specific important metrics, applying Lean methodologies for efficiency

  • Compare energy and waste metrics against industry standard processes and guide improvement efforts

  • Coordinate planning, supervision, and execution of capital projects across various environments

  • Build and manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring collaboration with site Sustainability leadership, engineering, operations, and external contractors

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Biotechnology, Energy Management or a related field

  • Knowledge of CO₂ reduction, energy efficiency, and waste management

  • Ability to manage complex projects across multiple departments and collaborators

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills across multiple levels of an organization

  • Strong financial understanding of capital equipment projects in a production environment

  • Strong ability to foster collaboration, engage collaborators, and build a culture of shared responsibility

  • Advanced in German and English

Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment. Any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically.

People come to Lonza for the challenge and creativity of solving complex problems and developing new ideas in life sciences. In return, we offer the satisfaction that comes with improving lives all around the world. The satisfaction that comes with making a meaningful difference.
