Conrad Roten serves as a Group Leader for API Development Services at Lonza’s site in Visp, Switzerland, where he leads a team of chemists responsible for process development for small-molecule projects and highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients (HPAPIs) in all clinical phases. The processes developed by this team are transferred to manufacture drug products from the liter to cubic meter scale. This team is also responsible for laboratory-scale manufacturing of small-molecule and HPAPI products throughout all clinical phases.
Conrad joined Lonza in Visp as an R&D Chemist in 1995 and held various positions in R&D, project management and production at Lonza-Visp in Switzerland, and in the U.S. at Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, and Los Angeles, California. In 2006, Conrad joined the Chemical Process Development team in Visp as a Group Leader. In 2008, he joined Lonza’s initiative to expand HPAPI capabilities and assets and build a strong HPAPI pipeline and network, leading projects to establish high-containment laboratory suites for R&D and lab-scale manufacturing.
Conrad received his Diploma and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.
