Brian Schwegler

Brian Schwegler is an Associate Director responsible for Thermal Separations & Sustainability in the Process Technology & Innovation Group for Small Molecules at Lonza. His team is responsible for development & implementation of processes in the field of Thermal & Membrane Separations used for product purification, solvent recovery and wastewater pretreatment. Brian grew up in the US, where he earned his Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, followed by further studies at the University of Konstanz in Germany. He then joined the Distillation Department at Bayer in Leverkusen, where he worked for five years and became an expert in thermal separation technology. Since 2002, Brian has supported Lonza in Process Development and production roles with the focus on Distillation, Waste Water treatment, Pervaporation, Solvent Recovery and sustainability. Brian Schwegler has 25 years of experience in the chemical, specialty ingredients and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries, and is currently leading a team whose focus is to reduce CO2 emissions by recovering solvents from Lonza’s Small Molecule product portfolio.
