Colmar, France | Lonza is currently looking for a Scientist, R&D Hard Capsules . We are looking to reinforce our global Hard Capsules R&D team in charge of developing new and optimizing existing products with a  Scientist with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Polymer Science, Chemical engineering, Food Science, Paints and Coatings, Dip-molding processes, with excellent skills in polymeric and disperse systems physicochemical characterizations and related applications.

Key responsibilities

• Implementing strategy for the development and manufacturing of new  or optimization of the existing hard empty capsules within foreseen timelines
• Reviewing scientific literature to provide input for capsules development strategy and to analyse, challenge and interpret the results
• Designing and conducting laboratory experiments, proposing and implementing (new) relevant characterization tools required for capsules development and processes scale-up
• Analysing, challenging and interpreting the test results, to enable understanding the outcomes and to drive next steps
• Editing technical reports and presentations in collaboration with scientists and others as required
• Acting as a subject matter expert in highly cross-functional environment
• Using the network of internal and external experts to reinforce own skills or knowledge base and to increase Company’s unique know how in capsules development

Key requirements:

• PhD or Master Degree with 2-3 years of experience in the relevant fields
• Areas of interest:  Polymer Science, Chemical engineering, Soft materials, Food Science focused on physicochemical characterization of polymeric and/or disperse systems
• Language: Fluency in English is mandatory; French is valuable asset
• Able to respond to changing priorities and handle multiple projects at a time
• Demonstrate the ability to readily obtain new soft or technical competencies
• Ability to work independently or within (cross-functional) teams
• Data driven and problem-solving oriented
• Passionate about research and investigations
