Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic provides support to the site by operating and performing daily checks on Utility equipment and performing equipment troubleshooting and repairs in compliance with company and departmental SOPs. Individual will work in a fast-paced, safety-oriented, team environment and must have a working knowledge of all utility systems, become proficient at troubleshooting and repairing at least three of the utility systems, and become a system expert (demonstrate a complete understanding of the theory of operation and system design) of at least two utility systems. Individual will maintain records to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice requirements to include detailed documentation of work performed in both electronic and written form and will routinely use the TrackWise electronic Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
- PERFORMS ALL WORK SAFELY.
- Executes routine work orders as assigned by Facilities Supervisor/Lead Mechanic and maintains the Utility areas in a state of inspection readiness at all times. Oversee deliveries of process gasses and supplies and pickup of chemical waste
- Execute moderate to complex troubleshooting and repair of plant and utility systems in the Portsmouth manufacturing facility and assist/coordinate contractors and vendors to ensure equipment is maintained in full operational status.
- Maintains records to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining current training on all related aspects of job
- Work with Level 1and 2 Mechanics to increase their knowledge of the utility systems and assist with their training.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key Requirements:
- High School Diploma of Equivalent
- Experience in a maintenance related environment.
- Experience in Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry performing equipment maintenance activities preferred.
- A working knowledge of shop math, ability to read and write.
- Intermediate mechanical knowledge.
- Can read complex mechanical, piping and equipment drawings.
- Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite are required.
- The ability to comprehend and apply Standard Operating Procedures on a continual basis in all facets of the job.
