This position for Business Development Specialist is expected to bolster our early-stage prospecting in new accounts, support deeper prospect and lead qualification and conversion to sales, increase awareness of the Lonza BIO offering in the biotech hubs in the US East Region, conference and event preparation, with the potential to develop further responsibilities in business development. This position will work closely with US East BIO Business Development Managers in the US East territory.
The Business Development Specialist is responsible for prospecting and converting prospects to leads for follow up by Business Development Manager colleagues. He/She will work very closely with the marketing intelligence team and BD Managers to build a strong understanding of the biotech ecosystems in the biotech hubs. They will work very closely with the technical sales team (proposal) and commercial development to understand and articulate our technologies and value propositions. The candidate will target new companies and consultants through email and phone prospecting in order to establish connections with new target accounts, increase awareness of Lonza and BIO capabilities in the biotech hubs, with the ultimate goal of generating a funnel of new leads and opportunities for the BD managers in the territory.
The Business Development Specialist will also be responsible for supporting conference, trade show, and marketing event preparation, including reviewing and prioritizing target lists with their BD colleagues, supporting partnering meeting outreach, and attending conferences.
Key responsibilities:
− In depth desk research on potential target customers (with support of Market Intelligence)
− Prospecting and initial outreach to target customers and consultants
− Following up on marketing generated prospects
− Converting prospects to concrete leads for follow up by Business Development Managers
− Liaising with internal function such as Technical Sales (proposals) and Commercial Development, and Licensing to ensure full alignment on technologies and value propositions
− Supporting conference preparation and booth duty
− Use lead generation companies for (ie Zymewire, PhamaTargeting, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, etc) for lead generation
Requirements:
REMOTE EAST COAST, Greater Boston, MA Area
Bachelor’s degree in Life Science discipline
1-4 years’ experience in sales/business development, product development role such as program management, CMC lead, lead technologist for drug development candidates. Technical Sales/Sales, Prospecting and lead generation, Project Management, Research & Development
Strong interpersonal skills, Creative, adaptable, capable of self-motivation and independence. Customer facing attitude, the ability to build relationships based on trust and long-term commitment. Strong gravitas, particularity in specific technology area of focus. Leadership skills and experience working in and driving teams to a specific customer-based results.

The full-time base annual salary for this remote position is expected to range between $102,600.00 and $119,700.00 annually. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the location of the successful candidate, qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and job-related knowledge.
