The Strategic Growth Investments & Engineering (SGIE) Network Lead will act as “right hand” for the Head of SGIE for all matters related to the SGIE functions strategic priorities, objectives and agenda. This includes special analytics, planning and reporting of the function and orchestrating strategic planning and organizational development. The role encompasses the management of the SGIE Americas Leadership Team from the agenda, content as well as performance point of view and ensuring coordination of the entire SGIE Americas function at a high level of excellence. This includes active leadership and accountability of specific improvement projects (e.g. LAMP (Lonza Asset Management Program, Site Engineering Improvement Initiatives). The role actively engages with various stakeholders including Site Heads, Site Engineering Leads and Global Business Partners ensuring appropriate business engagement and governance throughout the projects actively managed. This role is the formal liaison with Americas sites for escalations, requests and alignment across the Engineering Community.
The preferred location for the role is Houston, TX, although other US cities where Lonza has manufacturing facilities will be considered.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced pharmaceutical industry site liaison who can connect the central engineering function to site personnel and projects. The successful candidate will understand processes and have keen knowledge of equipment, calibrations and other manufacturing technology.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop presentation(s) for critical meetings and updates and related matters
- Development and implementation of Best in Class Communication platforms for the Americas Engineering Community (News Letter, Sharing: Lessons Learned and Achievements, organizing Team events, Technical Bulletins distribution)
- Being accountable for leading specific projects within the SGIE department
- Driver for the execution of the LAMP roadmap priorities for the Americas. Engaged with site Eng. teams to drive the delivery of the Globally driven LAMP. Requires equipment maintenance, calibrations & CMMS successful experience.
- Ensure that the portfolio of projects and initiatives within the department is appropriate and sufficient to deliver the function’s strategic goals
- Work with cross-functional internal and external partners to improve to implement and execute strategic initiatives
- Share lessons learned and best practices across programs, building relationships with stakeholders and brokering relationships at all levels.
- Work closely with Global PMO, Project Controls, (SGIE Center of Excellence) & Finance
- Support & collaborate with Group Capex Controlling & Cost Controllers ensuring capex funding, controlling and forecasting concepts are aligned within Platform & SGIE
- Perform role as a Sole contributor with potential to lead up to 3 direct reports & 10+ indirect/contractors
Key requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in Engineering, required (i.e. Bio, Chem, Mech, Electrical Engineering, …)
- At least 8 years of experience in Management/Communications Consulting, Technology, Science or Engineering Consulting/Execution, Corporate Development, Corporate Strategy and organization roles
- Knowledge of capital planning, maintenance, facilities management, equipment and calibration process
- Proven ability to drive toward a goal and manage workstreams within complex, cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Strategic problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with remote teams and across time zones to develop strategies and foster a cohesive and creative work environment
- Execute on projects where all the information is not always available and priorities can change
- Strong formal and informal leadership skills to effectively define and implement a functional agenda and foster a high performance team.
- Clear and concise written and oral communication.
- Ability to be a "Business Partner" with commercial mind-set to help define Corporate Functions strategy and plans
- Willing/able to travel up to 35%
