Lonza in Tampa, FL is searching for an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager. The incumbent will develop and implement the organization’s environmental, health, safety and sustainability programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that facilities are in compliance with regulations. Supports Corporate EHS and Sustainability Strategy and Objectives, contributes to development and implementation of global EHS programs and promotes local alignment with same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops environmental, health and safety policies and procedures  to ensure safe and efficient operation of the business and to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Monitors performance of Environmental, Health and Safety programs and regulatory compliance. Serves as local expert in safety, health, environmental regulatory issues and directs compliance activities on these matters.

  • Ensures compliance in areas of environmental, safety and health through risk assessments, self-audits and investigations and assist in the development of controls to reduce or eliminate hazards found within the workplace.

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures in Lonza to ensure safe and efficient operation of the unit and to ensure regulatory compliance. Maintain all records and reports as defined by regulatory agencies and corporate guidelines.

  • Provides information and guidance to facility management on safety and environmental controls as they affect current and proposed processes, equipment and procedures including the review of all new projects.

  • Reviews and assess all new chemicals, pharmaceutical ingredients, and other materials being brought into the site and provide industrial hygiene monitoring as needed to assure exposure levels are controlled. 

  • Oversees compliance training to ensure that individuals are trained and competent to effectively carry out responsibilities related to global occupational safety, health and sustainability standards and local or state regulations.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Health/ Chemical Engineering or related discipline

  • Ability to work within a 24/7 environment

  • Significant experience working as a EHS Manager

  • Solid experience overseeing hazardous waste operations in accordance with requirements for RCRA under 40CFR255.16 DOT 49 CFR 172.202.

  • Worked within a Pharmaceutical, CDMO or Biotechnology environment.

  • Significant experience leading project teams of EHS professionals and other functions specialist in complex site/multi-site projects.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
