Warehouse Distribution Manager

Lonza Walkersville is IMMEDIATELY hiring a Distribution Manager for the daily management of operations and personnel in the Receiving and Shipping areas. The Distribution Manager participates in all aspects of personnel management including interviewing, training, coaching and developing.
The Distribution Manager is responsible for performing and/or supervising daily tasks ensuring vendor receipts and customer orders are accurately processed timely, satisfying customer requirements, while considering company safety, quality and delivery goals.
This position is located onsite on our Warehouse Floor at our Walkersville, MD site.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure all receiving and shipping areas are operated in a safe, cGMP manner.
- Ensure all related SOPs are updated promptly to reflect current practices.
- Resolve outstanding paperwork (CAPA, Deviations, Work Orders, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Create and post KPI’s in respected areas to show team their performance and goals.
- Oversee logistics on monitoring of 3PL for handling inbound and outbound areas for improvement.
- Handle Lab Watch monitoring calls afterhours if routed for manager response.
- Lead representatives in area audits (internal and external).
- Streamline area process and work flows to increase area efficiency.
- Lead performance reviews and recommend advancements for operators.
- Maintain equipment in good repair, respond to building management system alerts. Propose/justify new equipment as needed.
- Identify and initiate and/or participate in process improvements or technological advancements that support the growth of the business.
- Operate within annual budget including co-managing schedules including hours of operations, daily assignments, projects and vacation schedules.
- Provide regular documented reports measuring performance.
- Participates in yearly budget and capex needs for area.
- Identify gaps in processes and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Key requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree with some college course work Supply Chain, Business Management, preferred.
- 5-10 years of high-volume distribution experience required, preferably in the Life Sciences industry. Additional years of experience may substitute for education in some instances.
- Experience with international shipping and associated regulatory requirements required. Knowledge of DOT/IATA HAZMAT regulations required.
- Must have knowledge of operating Material Handling Equipment required; Experience handling cold chain materials, preferred.
- Must have ERP inventory, SAP and logistics experience.
- Project Management experience is a plus.
- Must have strong communication skills both verbally and written.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office required.
