QC Supervisor

For our Bornem, Belgium | Lonza site, we have an open position for a QC supervisor. In this role, you will coordinate quality control activities in the laboratory with qualified personnel with the aim to assure a continuous availability of raw materials, in process controls and released finished products in compliance with the determined requirements. In addition, you will initiate quality improvement projects which will enable us to keep our position as ‘leader in quality’ in the market. You will work closely with the manufacturing organization to safeguard high product quality levels and delivery service according to customer expectations. The role requires leadership both in terms of personnel management and administration, and also at a technical and scientific level.
Key responsibilities:
Coordinates the daily organization of the laboratory test work and additional test work to assure evaluation and approval of raw material, in process controls in finished products in compliance with the determined requirements.
Combines and analyzes available data on raw material / in process checks / finished products to assure continuous availability of materials meeting the required specifications
Identifies trends during release process and material review and suggests corrective and preventive actions with the aim of continuous improvement.
Adjusts and sets up test procedures to assure testing in accordance with regulatory and internal reference test standards and takes into account requests from customer audits.
Assures correct documenting, decision taking and reporting of data on raw materials/in process checks/finished products to assure continuous availability of raw material and a continuous release of finished products meeting the required specifications and to assure a process fully in control.
Escalates critical quality issues related to QC testing and/ or significant delays in testing schedules to QC Manager. Prioritizes actions to manage such issues to avoid any impact on release activities.
Drives on time delivery of finished good release and facilitates incoming control at customer. Follow-up on QC release activities and decide on fit for use and scrap.
Manage, review, and approve OOS (Out of Specification) /deviation investigations, change controls and CAPA. Support the QA deviation coordinator with root cause investigation and determination of appropriate CAPA plans. Ensures correct documentation in available quality system as well as impact assessment performance towards product release.
Key requirements:
Bachelor degree in (bio)engineering, chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology or equivalent.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in a GMP production environment. Experience within quality control/laboratory environment is an asset, as well as people management.
Hands-on, pragmatic and a positive problem-solving mindset, able to work in a complex environment with different stakeholders and with continuously evolving developments.

Ability to interact, cooperate and motivate across departments and functions
Ability to work independently while being a team player with collaborative skills
Possesses a positive, can-do attitude and creatively solves problems
Embraces new initiatives and drives successful implementation in QC area
Good knowledge of IT-tools: MS Office / Statistic packages / ERP-tools and -processes. Knowledge of LIMS is an asset.
Fluent written and oral communication in Dutch and English, French is an advantage.
