Lonza Houston’s Cell and Gene Therapy Facility is the largest in the world and is still growing. We are looking for professionals to grow with us in our Facilities and Engineering business unit.  The Utilities Manager will be responsible for leading utilities teams to ensure equipment reliability and regulatory compliance, as well as, lead and develop technical teams, recommend equipment improvement and define optimal equipment parameters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of reliable operation and maintenance of utilities for the Houston site.

  • Ensure 100% Utilities Equipment uptime.

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise for maintenance strategy for equipment and systems.

  • Recommend and support implementation of improvements to maintenance instructions including Job Plans, Spare Parts Lists, ect.

  • Own selected maintenance SOP’s and recommend and implement improvements.

  • Recommend and implement improvements to timing and coordination of maintenance activities.

  • Provide field support to identify and resolve equipment and maintenance related issues.

  • Provide support to improve safety, compliance, efficiency and effective execution of maintenance work orders.

  • Evaluate equipment and instrumentation maintenance and failure history and recommend and implement improvements.

  • Manage selected maintenance contract service providers.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or a Life Science.

  • 5+ years of experience in a utilities/ utilities leadership role which includes building and growing a utilities team.

  • Significant experience supporting and implementing utilities systems.

  • Extensive experience in reliability/ sustainability preferred.

  • Significant experience in a regulated Pharmaceutical/ Biotech production facility highly preferred.

  • Excellent working knowledge of cGMP and FDA regulations.

  • Skilled with MS Office applications: Work, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, ect.

  • Excellent communication skills.
