Directs and motivates the Site Program Management team creating a trusting environment in which everyone shares the same vision of working towards defined Program Management team objectives in line with Site and Company common goals. Represents the PM team at the Site Leadership Team level, sponsoring good relationships and collaboration with other departments by providing full transparency of information. Responsible to balance the allocation of programs/portfolios among the team and through PM Group Leads securing a life work balance. Overall responsible for the site PM metrics and adherence to Global Program and Project Center of Excellence (PPM CoE) Standards. Uses knowledge of the business environment to ensure the Customer’s expectations and Lonza’s business needs are met, uses their knowledge of Lonza´s service offerings to identify and develop additional retention business on their program.

This role is eligible for relocation assistance, but will require being based locally in the Portsmouth, NH area for regular site presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure individual and team development is a constant, ongoing focus, not restricted to key review milestones. Including sponsorship of external development offers (if applicable)

  • Bring clear awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the Program Management team internally and externally

  • Allocate Program Management resources to new projects upon contract signature and handover from Proposals/Commercial Development

  • Passionate about customer focus with a true “Customer Comes First” mindset and constantly seeks opportunities to improve performance through partnership and collaboration

  • In conjunction with Account Management, build strong relationships to maximize the Customer’s experience with Lonza

  • Responsible for flawless coordination of site portfolio execution

  • Act as a core member of the Site Leadership Team

  • Act as nominated member for Program Management on customer Joint Steering Committees and Executive Steering Committees

  • Lead by example in cultivating positive, collaborative working relationships with Commercial Development, Business Development, Sales, Proposals and Account Management where possible

  • Understand the Financials of the Site Portfolio of projects, including target and outlook generation and review

  • Ensure on time and accurate reporting of all required PM data and KPI´s

  • Ensure the site PM’s adherence to Global Program and Project Center of Excellence (PPM CoE) Standards, including data integrity excellence in Planview.

  • Able to translate the strategic vision for the project into actionable objectives and plans that are ambitious but achievable

  • Ensures clear, concise and precise data quality in Planview at all times to enable quality decision making

  • Able to direct individuals over whom you have no direct control to successfully deliver the defined project objectives

  • Other responsibilities as needed

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or PhD preferred.

  • PMP or related certification preferred but not required

  • Must have 10+ years' experience specifically within Biotech, Pharmaceuticals, or Life Science industry

  • Highly preferred to have prior experience within a CDMO environment

  • External applicants outside of Lonza are highly preferred to have prior experience specifically within a Mammalian Cell Culture manufacturing environment

  • Preferred to have experience both with large-scale and small-scale cell culture manufacturing

  • Required to have prior leadership/managerial experience, preferred to be in a multi-layered organization/office with both direct reports and indirect reports.
