The position of Shift Leader is responsible for providing leadership to shift team colleagues in the Specialty Products Department. It also has full responsibility for guiding the team towards successfully meeting customer requirements, minimizing costs and maximizing profits. Resourcefulness must also be used to achieve yield, foreign and rate goals. Motivating team members, rewarding positive performance and addressing insufficient performance are highly important to success

Key Responsibilities:

•    Align with manager on yearly, monthly and daily goals for the diagnostics technician and collaborate on the KPI defined for the support functions: Advanced Setup Technicians, mechanics and logistic technicians. 

•    Elaborate actions plans, communicate and coordinate implementation as needed to achieve the defined team and individual goals; included but not limited to safety, quality and productivity.
•    Lead the shift change meeting to establish the shift priorities, resources allocation and support needed and report at the end of the shift the compliance to the defined operational goals.
•    Negotiate and manage the relationship and requirements to team work with support functions like changeover and mechanics to achieve the department KPI. 
•    Monitoring the job performance for team associates through use of individual performance indicators; provide on time feedback and coach colleagues to reach their potential.
•    Assuring periodic Safety meetings are held and issues resolved, discuss unsafe conditions or behaviors and address them as necessary. 
•    Provide technical and resource support on shift to the team members so they can reach their individual goals, escalate needs as necessary.
•    Support implementation of projects and provide feedback and ideas on how to improve the specialty products department on any safety, quality of productivity aspect. 
•    Responsible for tracking team attendance and promote an harmonic working environment.
•    Attendance in the plant is considered an essential function.
•    Must be capable and willing to work extended days and hours, including working on weekends and holidays. 
•    Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements:

•    At least 5-10 years of proven performance in a leadership role.
•    Experience in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, basic computer skills, communication skills, and the ability to make good business decisions when under pressure are desirable.
•    Experience with performance measurement systems, setting metrics, and managing performance appraisals is desirable.
•    Experience in developing people is a must.
•    Experience in Lonza’s Manufacturing, Printing and weight sorting process is strongly desired.

• High School Diploma

• Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
