Research Associate will support our Process Development and Bioassay Services group. This individual will provide technical support to Scientists and other Research Associates including conducting scientific experiments as well as the tools to conduct and collect data. This individual will also support the Lab Manager and perform common laboratory duties including supply of material, equipment maintenance, and general lab duties.

Key responsibilities:

  • Follows and supports 6S and Safety/Operational Excellence procedures.

  • Understanding and some hands-on experience with cellular, biochemical and/or molecular techniques; cell culture, nucleic acid extraction, real-time qPCR/RT-PCR, ddPCR, flow cytometry, microscopy, ELISA, spectrophotometric, fluorometric cell-based potency assays.

  • Maintains accurate, detailed records, experimental data and protocols following Lonza’s best documentation practices.

  • Coordinating equipment management, onsite vendors, and general needs of the research team

  • Works with Lead Scientists to provide results for internal and client meetings, written reports and presentations.

  • Performs common laboratory and equipment maintenance/storage as needed.

  • Supporting the Lab Manager on materials supply and other general lab needs

  • Ensure calibrations and preventative maintenance for all equipment in use are up-to-date

  • Maintains stock of lab supplies and reagents in support of ongoing programs.

  • Managing lab work order and ongoing service tickets

  • Processing of laboratory deliveries, receipt, storage and notifications

  • Becomes knowledgeable and complies with all pertinent safety policies, rules and regulations.

  • Performs other laboratory duties as assigned.

  • Supports projects within his/her expertise and experience. Develops and improves new skills and knowledge necessary to successfully support assigned projects.

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences with entry level years of experience.

  • Understanding of basic laboratory equipment and aseptic technique.

  • Proficient in the use of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Self-motivation and the ability to contribute as a team member

  • Ability to organize, plan and execute projects

  • Research skills and attention to detail
