Excellence in right-first-time and timely delivery to our customers is critical for Bioscience. Global leadership and coordination of Bioscience’s network of manufacturing sites and different operations & supply chain functions is a pre-requisite for achieving it. This position will lead through all facets of supply chain  and operations leadership globally, including planning, purchasing, production, logistics, warehousing, inventory management, engineering, facilities, manufacturing science, and program management, in support of all Lonza Bioscience’s operations activities.

Key responsibilities:

The Vice President & Global Head, Bioscience Operations & Supply Chain implements strategies within the global operations organization to ensure:  optimal capabilities and resources to enable operations activities consistently deliver to customer and business expectations;  financial and GMP audit/ inspection readiness at all times;  appropriate management/ governance systems are implemented to achieve business unit and company strategy.

  • Build a capable, customer-centric organization with the technical skills & knowledge, the right customer-focused processes, behaviors and competencies to consistently provide an excellent service experience
  • Ensure the right resources are available to enable operations activities that meet/exceed customer and business expectations
  • Responsible for ensuring a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement
  • Manage resource allocation to meet overall objectives
  • Work in partnership with Bioscience stakeholders to deliver high quality products within the established standards and KPIs and maintaining a competitive edge for the business

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Science or related field of study;  MBA preferred
  • Experience in life science manufacturing
  • Proven track record as successful operational leader with responsibility over multiple functional areas, including financial deliverables
  • Multisite experience a strong plus
  • Global experience preferred
  • Successful track record with health authorities
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment
  • Able to work in a matrix team structure
  • Must be willing/able to travel approximately 30%, including international trips;
