Head of Strategic Training Improvement

The Head of Strategic Training Improvement owns the strategy and vision for the development and deployment of training for the Houston Site; including oversight and collaboration on key functional training programs. In this capacity, the Head of Training drives the development of programs that incorporate overall business objectives across the various pillars of quality, people, cost and innovation. The Head of Training collaborates with key stakeholders and site leaders to address gaps in the overall training mission as well as individual functional gaps, in order to develop program requirements appropriate for the site and to each department

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and deployment of the overall site training strategy.

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders, Site Leadership, Asset Leadership and Functional Leadership to identify and address gaps in the overall training mission as well as individual functional gaps, in order to develop program requirements appropriate for the site and to each department.

  • Responsible for the development of appropriate qualitative and quantitative metrics to assess program delivery quality; ensuring continuous improvement, maintenance, and adjustment in program delivery approaches accordingly in order to maintain pace with business growth.

  • Responsible for conducting both internal and industry benchmarking to promote consistency, best practices sharing across sites and development of best in class training programs.

  • Develops personnel within the Training department and ensures they have the appropriate knowledge, education and experience to successfully implement the training strategy, including keeping individuals up to date with the latest practices, trends and technology.

  • Provides appropriate coaching and performance feedback to all direct reports

  • Oversees the implementation of training programs at the site. This includes ensuring the creation of content, e-learning, collateral and other training materials that will impact behavior-changing training using various training theories inclusive of adult learning techniques, job aids, facilitator and participant guides, on-the-job training systems, tutorials, and demonstration models.

  • Will work closely with global training counterparts and project teams and represents Training during audits and inspections

Key requirements:

  • Bachelors of Arts in Psychology or Related Field

  • GMP compliance knowledge; direct knowledge of relevant documentation requirements for cooperative manufacturing

  • Computer software skills including Microsoft Office, database and spreadsheet creation and maintenance, filing, organization, record keeping and planning skills, multiple projects, time management

  • Excellent Written and oral communication skills; listening skills; independent and self-directed
