Associate Director, Molecular Biology & Vector Design

We are currently looking for an Associate Director, Molecular Biology (Senior Group Leader) with extensive experience in vector engineering and genetic tool design to join our expanding R&D team at Lonza.
As an Associate Director (Senior Group Leader), you will be responsible for the management and growth of a team of 10+ scientists and leading technology and/or process product development projects with significant commercial impact. This role would suit an innovative and results driven individual with molecular biology experience within a mammalian environment.

Key responsibilities:
Providing development and scientific guidance to your team to foster employee's commitment and performance.
Providing clarity of tasks, motivation and support to your team to continuously improve and develop
Ensuring work environment and working conditions are appropriate for optimal performance and for achieving results and if improvements or streamlining is needed, develop and implement solutions
Designing and successful delivery of R&D projects (incl. collaborations) with impact in the range of 20-100Mio NPV or equivalent strategic value or business impact
Proactively drives project decision making through timely and appropriate communication across levels
Presents projects to internal stakeholders and at external conferences.
Proactively identifies innovation opportunities and proprietary solutions that expand or significantly improve and differentiate Lonza's offerings
Key requirements:
Ph.D. in relevant scientific discipline or M.S. with substantial industrial experience. Preferred area of study; molecular biology, cell expression systems
Substantial industry experience in working with mammalian cell expression systems essential
Strong experience with vector engineering, recognised SME in the field
Well recognised track record of delivering projects within industrial/academia setting.
Experience with cross functional collaboration preferred
