The Site Electrical Specialist (AP) will lead the electrical delivery within the Technical Services function and provide leadership and strategic vision for the electrical infrastructure, along with supporting various projects across the UK Biologics portfolio as a subject matter expert.  You will be the focal point for low and high voltage systems onsite and set the culture for the organization’s electrical H&S compliance.

As part of this, the Electrical AP is responsible for managing the electrical infrastructure with regards to its configuration, operational limits, and suitability for the needs of the business. On a day-to-day basis, it is the responsibility of the Electrical AP to ensure that the electrical system remains safe and effective with regards to operation, modification, and maintenance activities.

The role will be based at our site in Slough, however will include occasional visits to Cambridge.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be the subject matter expert responsible for the safety, reliability and robustness in design, installation, operation and maintenance of low voltage electrical systems
  • Provide leadership and strategic foresight for electrical systems on the 2 UK sites (Slough and Cambridge)
  • Leading the Technical Services Function in matters of electrical safety
  • Work with our Facilities Management Partner to ensure that the electrical system remains fit-for-purpose
  • Work with the Project Management team to ensure that any new works will not adversely affect the safe and reliable functioning of our electrical systems
  • Other than when issuing or cancelling an electrical safety document, including undertaking complex isolation, maintain sufficient distance from practical installation and maintenance tasks so as to avoid focused attention on an individual issue at the detriment of other activities and areas of compliance.

Key requirements:

  • Possess AP status
  • Experienced in LV systems, with good knowledge and awareness of HV
  • Qualified to 18th Edition, or at minimum be 17th and working towards
  • Degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering
  • Be a solutions focussed problem solver
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment and an appreciation for the impact of operational challenges presented as a result of any downtime
