Identify and deliver value based on category management excellence, specific knowledge about LPBN raw materials markets & suppliers and through applying a professional and strategic approach to manage associated external spend.

Key responsibilities:

  • Category Management & Strategic Procurement: Develop a Procurement Category strategy in conjunction with key business stakeholders. Drive category expertise through an understanding of required technologies, geographical spread, supply markets & trends, cost drivers and the impact to Lonza’s business model. Maintain market knowledge, build a strong and reliable supply base as a differentiator to our competition, drive tendering, negotiation, contracting and sourcing for raw materials. Identify value creation opportunities and drive the realization of the value.
  • Global Supplier relationship Management: Lead the development of key supplier relationships and develop a program of continuous improvement, leveraging supplier capabilities, improve supply continuity and reduce total cost of ownership. Review key supplier performance and drive performance improvement across the Lonza network. Assess supply base and identify risks of supply disruption or competitiveness gaps, develop mitigation plans, coordinate with appropriate key stakeholders in case of major issues (crisis management), ensure business continuity
  • Business Stakeholder Management: Own the interface to business leaders concerning raw materials. Provide expertise in the relevant raw materials markets and advise on new business opportunities. Engage as needed with other internal stakeholders (corporate functions or sites)
  • Leading a team: leading a small team of strategic buyers located across our sites
  • Procurement Processes, tools and Systems: support global procurement initiatives and policies, implementation of procurement tools, processes and guidelines, roll out and implement key supplier scorecard

Key requirements:

  • University Degree B.Sc.  Economics / SCM / Procurement or similar
  • Extensive experience within category management / Procurement within the pharma or life sciences industry or similiar
  • Fluency in English is required, other European Languages (German) is a plus
  • Acts and behaves as role model to leverage entire organization
