Global MSAT International Tech Transfer Scientist/Engineer – Global MSAT Biologics Operations

The newly formed Global MSAT team will support the Biologics Operations strategy, in particular regarding customer centricity, providing harmonized deployed services and more consistency in execution. It will also support the new technology introduction that we forecast in the coming years, with accelerated timelines. Internally, this new team will have a close interface with R&D and Group Operations (especially with Manufacturing Process, Technology & Innovation (MPTI)) for early alignment, priority setting, planning and execution of our global improvement agenda. The roles:

Due to the significant growth and future expansion of the Lonza biologics manufacturing operations network, we have four positions for Global MSAT Tech Transfer Scientist/Engineers. These positions will lead the technical transfer of multiple complex manufacturing processes (either USP and/or DSP) from the Slough pilot center of excellence or site to site across the glbal network. The role is accountable to ensure that a robust manufacturing process is transfered according to both internal and external customer needs. The role will also collaborate with the Group Operations MSAT professionals to drive cost reduction, speed of delivery and process improvement of tech transfers via Game Changing Initatives (GCI’s) programs.

The Global MSAT International Tech Transfer Scientist/Engineer will be a recognized process expert in USP or DSP operations. The individual will provide central technical support via multiple customer facing project teams to deliver existing but also new process technology advancement, perform complex technical pronel solving and deliver the required complex technical process definition in collaboration, negotiation and discussion with network sites and external customers as required. This role will have an established internal network and have influence and credibility across Global Operations in area of expertise and with senior MSAT management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the technical oversight of international tech transfers including all aspects of process tech transfer stages of work, cocordinating cross site with network peers to ensure successful outcomes in terms of cost, timeline and customer objectives.
  • Represents the Global MSAT technical function in oversight preparation and execution of site to site transfers with sendng and receiving sites.
  • Represents the MSAT function working cross site and cross functionally with R&D and PDS to implement to desired timelines innovative and new process technologies. Makes technical decisions and and ensures successful transfer to manufacturing of pre commercial projects identifying and resolving technical problems as required.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of structured technical or business improvements to ensure continuous improvements in project tech transfer execution and customer projects outcomes working with peers in the Group Oerations MSAT function.
  • Attends and represents Lonza’s scientific reputation at customer project meetings in areas of expertise e.g. process validation (USP or DSP), regulatory submissions CMC, GMP Technical Transfers, process scale up

What we need you to have:

  • MSc/PhD in science related disciplines or equivalent years of experience
  • Mammalian or microbial background for drug substance manufacturing support experience
  • Extensive experience in a drug substance GMP operations
  • Strong knowledge in process development and/or a manufacturing operations validation background.
  • Be a recognized expert in field USP and/or DSP drug substance operations from working over an extensive period.
  • Have a successful technical transfer expertise gained from a drug substance-manufacturing environment.
  • Have demonstrable experience working in cross-functional project management with ability to multi task, prioritize and be an effective decision maker influential.
  • Have a deep understanding of manufacturing process as a whole e.g. Supply chain, analytical, QA, QC.
  • Strong interpersonal skills especially resilience to challenge are required with ability to work cross functionally with global internal and external customers on a daily basis.
