Associate Principal Scientist - Analytical Chemist

We are currently looking to recruit an Associate Principal Scientist with a background in Analytical Chemistry to join our Protein & Process Analytics Bio R&D Team. Working within this team, you will be delivering high-value technical innovation both via analytical projects and as part of a wider collaborative project team.

As an Analytical Chemist within Lonza, you will be providing scientific leadership and direction within the team, and as a senior member of the team, will be responsible for oversight and execution of scientific activities, which will include elements of laboratory work, scientific review and coaching, and driving innovation and implementation of new technologies within the Lonza Network.

This exciting role would suit a Chemist/Biochemist with an analytical background and keen interest in innovation within the R&D space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for oversight and execution of the scientific activities of the team

  • laboratory work, scientific review and coaching, project management, professional mentoring,

  • Performing technology scouting and driving implementation of new technologies within the Lonza network. 

  • Providing scientific leadership within the team, and as part of the wider Lonza network

Key requirements:

  • PhD Degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry or equivalent working experience

  • Practical industry and/or academic experience in an analytical laboratory

  • Experience working within a mammalian biologics environment

  • Research focused, with a keen interest in innovation within the biologics area

  • Documented history of high-quality publications / patent filings in the field of biomolecular interaction analysis

  • Detailed knowledge and practical expertise in analytical techniques. Thorough understanding of the state of the art of the technologies and its applications in the area of analytical characterization of biotherapeutics

  • Interpersonal skills to deliver technical projects within a matrix organization

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to directly influence stakeholders in a scientific capacity
