Internship/ Temporary Position in Microbial Strain Development, R&D Lonza Biologics

As a member of our Microbial Research & Development Team in Lonza Biologics in Visp you will be involved in the development of bacteria and yeast production strains and the implementation in fermentation processes. You are enthusiastic about innovation and new technologies and enjoy transferring science into processes by working in a collaborative manner in an interdisciplinary team.

The position is limited to maximally 13 months and takes place within a granted Marie Skłodowska Curie European Innovative Training Network. The project already started in 2019.

Key responsibilities:

  • Involvement in the development and optimization of bacterial and yeast production hosts for recombinant production processes
  • Generation, testing, screening, fermentation and analysis of production hosts
  • Planning and execution of experiments as well as data analysis, documentation and internal presentation
  • Be part and present your work within a highly interacting interdisciplinary European project team
  • Meet and exchange regularly with 14 other students working in the joint project

Key requirements:

(Specific Eligibility Criteria valid at time of recruitment on the H2020 Marie Skłodowska Curie programme)

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or similar study
  • The applicant has to be within the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree.
  • Mobility rule: The applicants may not have resided or carried out main activity (studies, work, etc.) in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the recruitment date.
  • Good communication skills in English complete your profile
