Operations Technology and Informatics Engineer

Lonza in Cologne is looking for an Operations Technology and Informatics Engineer. In this role you will have responsibility for the direction of and support of OT technology which supports the operations of the business, this includes but is not limited to, process control and monitoring equipment, automation software, laboratory software, laboratory automation and instrumentation and laboratory and plant infrastructure.
You must be able to forge an open working relationship with system owners and key members of the Manufacturing and Development (R&D) Departments, promoting proactive, two-way communication in order to implement best-practice and integration with the IT Infrastructure.
As a responsible role you will need to be aware of current and emerging technologies which could benefit/add value to Manufacturing and Development (R&D) Departments and promote these opportunities internally.
Implementations Support (30%)
Lead the design and implementation of OT software
Improve management of, and access to, business-critical scientific data for all scientific disciplines across LONZA
Business Partnering and Solution Provision (30%)
Strive to provide the best workable solution using the software/systems and systems available in alignment with the sites digital and automation strategy.
Develop an in-depth understanding of IT and business initiatives, strategies and needs for the future and ensure alignment of OT strategy.
OT Operations (40%)
Author GxP business and technical requirements, use cases, process flow document, create robust test plans and scripts, execute testing, support user acceptance testing, and perform production rollout.
Responsible for the data integrity and quality/compliance of the core informatics systems
Perform high level system administration of OT systems: managing the user roles, including their configurations, security rights and access rights
Bachelor in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics or similar
Solid experience in laboratory computer systems and automation
Fluency in German and English is required
Specialist / Super User / SME in a knowledge management software, laboratory information systems or electronic laboratory notebooks
System implementation, documentation and maintenance
Technical knowledge of integration techniques and communication protocols
Understanding of Enterprise Architecture, networks, servers and routing systems
