The Head of OE:
Lead the efforts to generate OE strategy, to identify and develop systems and support for ongoing site efforts: process improvement, daily management system, and culture.
Plan, lead, drive and execute business critical improvement projects to deliver successful results using Lean/DMAIC approach.
Achieve goals through the application of continuous improvement and contribute to shaping Portsmouth Strategy development and delivery, organizational development and culture leadership.
Act as a subject matter expert for the site coaching others in the philosophy, methods, tools and techniques of process improvement to increase the capability of the business to respond to problems. Mentor and develop the OE managers through regular coaching and management of their performance.
Coach teams to establish performance measurements and process control plans to monitor project results and drive sustainability. Communicate project progress and promote project achievements to maintain awareness of improvement activity on the site, across the network and with corporate leadership.
Develop improvement project business case to secure the necessary support and resources for success. Work with the business to identify and report milestone project progress and work with project sponsors and site leadership to address major barriers to progress to ensure projects are delivered to plan.
Structured problem solving skills as well as coaching others in structured problem solving are highly desirable.
Skill leading complex projects is desirable, as is skill in strategy development and execution.
Leadership and facilitation skills with the ability to coach, manage and lead diverse teams.
Strong presentation skills are also required for developing and delivering information to drive action at senior levels in the Lonza organization.
Able to communicate status, needs, forecasts, risks and timelines effectively to senior management.
Strong collaboration and relationship building (internal and external customers), influential.
Has good interpersonal skills and collaborates cross-functionally in an effective manner to achieve objectives
Budgeting and cost management.
Strong continuous improvement mindset. Approaches projects and initiatives as learning opportunities, and is able to incorporate learning from previous efforts into future iterations.
Strong analytical skills. Able to identify and generate key data measurements to drive improvements.
Expert level in process improvement tools and methodologies; Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
Proven ability to lead an organization through sustained transformational performance.
Detailed understanding of project management methodology.
Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
5 years biopharma (or equivalent)
BA/BS Degree (preferred area of study - Science/Engineering)
