Head of USP or DSP Microbial large-scale Manufacturing (m/f/d)

The site in Visp is growing and for our recently launched unique biological manufacturing and development concept in Visp, Switzerland, we are currently looking for a Head Upstream Processing (USP) or Downstream (DSP) to manage and support the operational activities of a Microbial large-scale manufacturing unit and be accountable for the execution of all production campaigns with regard to safety, quality and on-time-in full delivery. As member of the Manufacturing Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the performance and results of the assigned area, as well for set-up and management of the training activities on mammalian technology in the operations unit.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manages a team of production leaders (biologists), supervisors and specialists with full responsibility for all aspects of human resource management such as qualification, development, coaching, hiring, pay decisions and discipline issues.

  • Ensures a good information exchange from the upper management levels to his/her team and the other way around through regularly team meetings and escalation of production issues.

  • Responsible for setting up the training activities for microbial technology USP or DSP.

  • Working as production expert in Capital investment projects for building and commissioning of the manufacturing units. Main responsible for delivering all input required for the specific set-up, commissioning and qualification of the manufacturing suites and equipment including automation.

  • Responsible for implementation of the relevant GMP documents for the respective area.

  • As a member of the Manufacturing Leadership Team responsible for all aspect of general production management such as housekeeping, staff behavior, training activities and control of general processes and installations.

  • Representing the operational area in customer meetings, audits and regulatory inspections.

Key requirements:

  • Master or Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioengineering or related disciplines (with equivalent experience)

  • Significant experience in a leading position in Biopharma manufacturing

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate internally and externally at higher levels

  • Very good understanding of business and financial processes

  • Strong background in microbial large scale production

  • Fluent in English and German

  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills and a structured and proactive working attitude

  • Open-minded for new ideas with a highly collaborative and strong team oriented attitude
