Lead Scientist Cell Culture Development

We are currently looking to recruit a Lead Scientist within our Cell Culture Development team here at Lonza. As a Lead Scientist, you will be a key member of the laboratory team working on multiple complex projects carrying out activities associated with creating, selecting and developing cell lines and processes for manufacture of therapeutic products.
This is a hands-on lab based role, with responsibility for mentoring and leading junior members of the team for execution of lab based work stages within cell culture development.
Reviewing of complex media/feeds and can assess impact of deviations to process
Leading the delivery of multiple projects/stages (safety, quality, regulatory, right first time, on time) including creation and completion of project dashboards
Processing transfer of non-standard processes
Basic cell culture, cryopreservation and revivals
Operation of standard and non-standard ambr processes, writing new programs
Leading cell culture automation runs
Technical creation and review of new documents, protocols, SOPs
Ownership/and lead troubleshooting of multiple equipment processes in common area of expertise (e.g. bioreactors, CLC, ambr15, ambr250) and introduction of new equipment
Coordinating and delivering training in an area
Acting as a Science Lead/Study Director on multiple customer programs
Coordinating, coaching, mentoring and training more junior members of the department as required
PhD or MSc/BSc in Biochemistry/biology or relevant scientific / technical discipline or equivalent working experience
Experience of working within mammalian cell culture in scientific lab based, hands on capacity
Experience in working with bioreactors (miniature, disposable) essential
Working knowledge in primary recovery methods/strategies
Experience in design of experiments (DoE) desirable

Ability to provide scientific oversight and mentoring to more junior members of the team
