Lead Material Handler

Lonza Cell and Gene Therapy facility, located in Houston Texas, is the largest in the world and our facility is growing.  We are seeking to add top talent to our Materials Support team.  The Lead Material Handler is responsible for leading and directing daily work activities with the Material Handler team in the supervisor’s absence to ensure material preparation and schedule attainment is met.   This individual will ensure all activities are performed according to safety practices and approved procedures with adherence to cGMPs and proper material handling practices per site procedures.

Key responsibilities:

  • Execution of material request from the warehouse
  • Ensure critical supplies are in stock and available production
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the rest of material handlers for process flow, handling materials and SAP transactions
  • Responsible for the adherence to safety and cGMP regulations of the team
  • Planning of daily activities (with guidance from Team Lead) for the material handlers and provide first line of problem solving in case of any event
  • Escalation to team lead/management and interaction with other stakeholders in case of any event (Deviation Investigation Team, QA, MSAT, MM, Supply Chain/Planning etc.)
  • Contributor on Manufacturing and Operational Excellence projects to optimize and streamline processes
  • Writes and revises SOPs as required
  • Investigates and clears SAP related inventory/consumption issues

Key requirements:

  • Associate Degree; High School diploma may be considered with relevant experience
  • Advance level knowledge of SAP/ERP Systems
  • Supply Chain, Inventory Control experience a plus
  • Experience in writing technical documents and protocols
  • Knowledge and experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Able to communicate orally and written in a professional manor, highly organized and able to multi-task, ability to problem solve in a fast paced environment
