Manufacturing Lead Supervisor

Lonza is currently seeking Manufacturing Lead for the Kingston, ON location. This role is responsible to oversee the manufacturing of Cocoon’s and Single-Use Product for the Cocoon Platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare production, schedule tasks, and assign duties to operators to meet the production schedule, assess production records and meet release timelines to deliver quality product to our customers.
  • Demonstrate expertise and technical leadership in cGMP compliance and an in-depth understanding of process flow and be able to make decisions based on that experience.
  • Lead the day to day activities including but not limited to safety and regulations, housekeeping, team meetings, equipment maintenance etc. 
  • Proactively suggest and lead areas of improvement.
  • Own performance and the quality of the work of the team, ensuring adherence to written procedures (SOPs), housekeeping, 6S, daily management system (DMS), monitoring equipment and processes, cleanroom  tasks, product testing.
  • Deliver to Plan: Lead and direct the safety, quality, and daily production operations in the cleanroom. Oversee all tasks on the floor as they are carried out and provide assistance and troubleshooting to complex and non-routine process and equipment events.
  • Quality Compliance: Ensure full compliance with GMP and Quality system requirements. Responsible for overall inspection readiness and compliance with quality requirements. Lead and oversee the on time completion of document review (batch record, logbook, forms, DOPs) for completeness, clarity, accuracy to support on-time release of batches with minimal errors
  • Lead and train staff : Support recruiting, staffing, hiring, onboarding. Provide effective training to manufacturing staff related to any current and new process, batch records, or quality system to be used in the Single-Use Product.
  • To maintain individual training plan. Ensure team remains up to date with training readiness. Ensure full compliance with GMP and Quality system requirements.
  • Must be present and engaging on the floor; reinforcing values and promoting the transfer of knowledge through coaching•Documentation: Develop and maintain Single-Use Product DMR according to Octane Biotech and regulations standards. Support the NC and ENC process as needed.
  • Communication: Demonstrate strong technical writing abilities. Communicate effectively, initiate, assess and close low minor deviations, SOP/DOP/Protocol creation, review batch records, logbooks, etc.
  • Hands-on: to execute as a Sr. Technician during manufacture of GMP product, as necessary.• 

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with scalable manufacturing concepts and methodologies•Passion for new engineering technologies and innovation
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment/automated systems
  • Experience in process improvement plans and process mapping•Familiarity with cGMPs, ISO13485 and FDA regulatory guidelines
  • Computer skills, MS Office•Knowledge in the use of metrology measuring and testing equipment for the purpose of calibrating and adjusting instruments
  • Analytical and mathematical skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Through and clear documentation, communication abilities
  • Systematic and organized workflow
  • Independent task management and ability to make decisions•Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to multitask while delivering project and accountability on time and on budget
