For Drug Product Services (DPS), our successful Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) branch, located in Basel, Switzerland and Stein, Switzerland, we have exciting opportunities. Become part of a group that enables its customers to meet some of the greatest challenges in patient treatment and join us by applying for the position as Senior Principal Scientist / Group Head in Phys-Chem Analytics & Quality Control.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a group at the DP Phys-Chem QC organization, oversee infrastructure and services for biologics, small molecule and peptide parenteral products for clinical and commercial products

  • Supervise and ensure installation, qualification and maintenance of all instruments for DP Phys-Chem QC in close alignment with current best practices and regulations

  • In charge of implementation of analytical methods and technologies to support DP QC (specifically including HPLC and CE purity methods, content by UV, identity, color, clarity and opalescence, pH, osmolality, extractable volume, CCI, visible and sub-visible particles)

  • Lead and manage assigned groups of staff including Group Leads and subordinate lab scientists. Oversee and ensure effective use of resources (time, personnel, equipment, material and space), maintenance of equipment, order, safety and health protection and all cGMP regulations.

  • Ensure planning and execution of the assigned organization’s growth and development, working closely with Head of Phys-Chem QC

  • Implement improvements in planning, organization and execution of QC lab operations as needed to ensure efficiency increase

Key requirements:

  • Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field

  • Significant working experience in analytical development and quality control, preferably under cGMP regulations

  • Good knowledge in relevant analytical techniques as well as cGMP

  • Extraordinary communication, supervisory, reporting and scientific skills

  • Ability to interpret complex analytical data

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
