We are currently looking for a Global Head of MSAT – Group Operations. In this role, you will have a high level of responsibility and visibility for improving and globally aligning approaches on all MSAT related processes, workflows and underlying structures. You provide expertise and leadership to our global MSAT team and govern MSAT standardization, innovation and efficiency roadmap across all divisions in the wider area of Manufacturing Processes and Technology Transfer.

We are looking for a very well structured, hands-on, out of the box thinker to lead and develop our global MSAT team. The purpose of this role is to continuously develop and implement best in industry processes across Lonza’s Pharma and Biotech network incl. all modalities (ranging from biologics, small molecules, gene and cell therapies to our bioscience business). The incumbent will collaborate with global and site stakeholders (e.g. divisional operations / site heads, customer program management, OE and quality) to identify, develop and implement improved MSAT procedures, tools and processes. The role requires close collaboration with Operational Technology/ Digitalization to ensure that the right digitalization & automation projects are driven forward. You will lead and develop a team with strong technical and leadership capabilities that is able to navigate and lead in a matrix organization as well as to represent Lonza to customers and authorities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive global cross-divisional initiatives, harmonized standards / best practices in the context of manufacturing and connected areas incl. digitalization – ensure efficient network roll-out, training and subsequent adherence to standards

  • Identify technology gaps and define the global improvement agenda, develop key technology roadmaps and drive them into implementation

  • Lead Lonza`s multi-year global program about transformational changes in the framework of technology transfers across all modalities; further develop the program, streamline the entry pathway of new projects and build technology platforms to support our ambition to become a tech transfer powerhouse & innovation lead

  • Connect and catalyze global, cross-divisional manufacturing / MSAT communities leveraging the power of our network

  • Lead, develop and retain the global MSAT team; develop and maintain critical capabilities and define standard roles, foster strategic hires and targeted development to address competency gaps; manage functional talent base and secure know-how and cross-fertilization

Key requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Science or equivalent/higher with substantial experience in (bio)pharmaceutical industry

  • Driven by innovation and ready to dive into new technologies, automation, digitalization

  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across divisions and technologies

  • Hands-on mentality and capability. Effective, versatile and action-oriented

  • Proven, excellent leadership and communication skills and experienced in working in a large matrix organization

  • Six Sigma / Lean management background
