Job Description Summary:

Identify and deliver value based on category management excellence, specific knowledge about Advanced chemicals and API intermediates markets & suppliers, CDMO’s and through applying a professional and strategic approach to manage associated external spend. Drive category expertise through an understanding of required technologies, geographical spread with focus on India, supply markets & trends, cost drivers and the impact to Lonza’s business model.

Work closely with key stakeholders to support unique selling positions ahead of the competition, provide effective sourcing strategies that enable new business opportunities and innovation, step change improvements in quality, service at competitive cost. Develop supplier relationships that leverage supplier capabilities, improve supply continuity and reduce total cost of ownership. Effectively prioritize work incorporating Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Finance and Business Unit requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead sourcing role for interfacing with Lonza Evaluation & Program Management for New Business and Early Phase Project, Development and Technology Transfer programs.

  • Responsible for providing prices, cost estimates and initial sourcing strategies for early stage projects under assessment

  • For Tech Transfer and Development Programs, serve as a technical resource during the identification and evaluation of potential raw material manufacturers

  • Develops strategies to drive further supplier integration both into active programs and for specific technical challenges. 

  • Manage relevant product supply process and enhance overall effectiveness of the supply chain

  • Develop and maintain market understanding and working knowledge of supply economics, processes and cost drivers for the relevant product portfolio, including staying abreast of new technologies. 

  • Lead supplier selection, negotiation, management strategies and ensure accountability

  • Drive awareness of active supply issues clarifying business impact and lead resolution plans

  • Review Supplier Change Notices as well as prioritize and drive implementations

  • Work closely with Supplier Quality to monitor supplier performance metrics and actively participate in CAPA development, execution and closure plans.

  • Maintain knowledge of Approved Suppliers and assist Supplier Quality to execute supplier Quality Agreements

  • Share annual rolling requirements forecasts with suppliers and work with Lonza manufacturing sites to develop effective inventory replenishment strategies

  • Establish risk management strategies and drive development and implementation of appropriate risk mitigation plans 

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business impact and build inventories and implement alternate sources of supply where appropriate

  • Plan and participate in negotiations of commercial terms and multi-year supply agreements as well as develop cost reduction teams and implementation plans

  • Action annual cost savings in each spend category

  • Track savings programs in relative financial and sourcing repositories, forecast savings vs. standard and monitor actuals

  • Create savings pipeline as well as champion ideas that will optimize TCO

  • Determine and leverage global synergy opportunities with materials, suppliers and / or Lonza businesses

  • Manage relationships with vendors acting as the primary point of contact within Lonza

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science + Master’s degree (MBA preferred)

Preferred area of study: Chemistry, Engineering, Purchasing, Finance or Business

  • Experience : 10 Years operations experience with 5-7 years in Procurement/Procurement Experience in a regulated industry (i.e. pharmaceutical, food) preferred.

  • Ready to travel on average 2 to 3 days per week.

  • Languages: Hindi, English fluent & German (optional)

  • Skills :

- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies that have yielded measurable business results.

- International exposure.

- Negotiating and influencing skills.
