The Senior Scientist is a key member of the laboratory team who works on multiple well defined projects to deliver high quality execution of experimental work following all safety and quality procedures. They are responsible for planning and executing standard experiments and also, with appropriate support, dealing with more complex projects. The Senior Scientist will work closely with customers to present progress on project stages, understand their needs, respond to project challenges and ultimately deliver a world class experience.
This role is for a position in Cell Culture Development, based in Slough, with a focus on 10 L bioreactor work. It will involve a combination of laboratory work and customer interaction .
Preparation of complex media and feeds; may write text files for new solution preparations
Operation of standard and non-standard bioreactor processes; process transfer of standard processes
Basic cell culture, cryopreservation and revivals
May operate standard and non-standard ambr processes, writing new programs
Technical review of new documents/SOPs
Ownership/Troubleshooting of multiple equipment processes in common area of expertise (e.g. bioreactors, ambr15, ambr250) and introduction of new equipment
Introduction of new materials/consumables
Coordinating and delivering training in an area
Standard work: completion of timesheets, maintenance of LSO profile, participation in Hoshin Level 0 meetings
Act as a Science Lead/Study Director on customer program
Scientific Degree holder
Logical and organised approach to problem solving. Can facilitate problem solving workshops
Proven ability to plan and deliver using Gantt and Action log
Organises thoughts in a logical way that conveys the important information.
Self-directed in learning. Developing areas of subject matter expertise.
Ability to teach others laboratory skills.
Ability to present experiments and data clearly within department and to customers.
Ability to design data collection plans and analyse data.
Ability to design and interpret simple DOE experiments
Application of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques such as 6S, visual management, mistake proofing and the 8 wastes
Ability to conduct basic process / data analysis (7 basic quality tools), interpret output and develop robust solutions
