Scientific Data Engineer - 12 months fixed term contract

We are currently looking to recruit a Scientific Data Engineer to join our team in Slough, Berkshire on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

As a Scientific Data Engineer, you will be responsible for defining architecture of our data management process, and implementing this within areas of our business. You will also act as key point of contact for internal stakeholders to create a process to enable statistical insights and process optimisation across departments within Lonza.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defining architecture for Complex Protein data management for Process Development

  • Developing Interfaces to parse lab-platform data to/from ELN

  • Leading the creation/Updating of ELN Templates for semi-automated data capture into defined structure

  • Liaising with Technical Directors and Diverse User Groups for requirements for Data Consumption

  • Creating a process to enable Statistical Insights for Process Optimisation and Scale-up across departments and other international sites

  • Identifying opportunities of integration with existing systems and platforms to enable streamline technology transfer between areas as well as integration and consistent data output.

  • Form strong, open relationships with system owners and key stakeholders, promoting proactive, two-way communication in order to implement best-practice and integration with the IT/OT Infrastructure. 

  • Identify and develop strategic advances in data management technologies to improve operations (automation, exploiting the full potential systems, system to system interaction and process improvements following OE lean principles) to improve RFT, delivery to plan and overall end to end performance.

Key Requirements

  • Experience within programming using at least one of the following: API (e.g. REST), Python, Statistical Language (R, Scala, JMP), MATLAB within a scientific/lab setting

  • Experience in defining and creating data structure and back-end architecture for storing, analysing and reporting complex data

  • Experience in gathering diverse user requirements for statistical purposes

  • Experience with LIMS/MES/ELN process/workflow development desirable

  • Exposure and knowledge of cross functional data projects in Pharma/Biotech industry
