Laboratory Coordinator

We are currently looking to recruit Laboratory Coordinator to work within our Process Analytics labs based at our manufacturing site in Slough, UK. As a Laboratory Coordinator, you will providing support to ensure that the laboratories are safe and productive places to work

In this support role, you will also be responsible for coordinating inventory, laboratory maintenance, equipment maintenance and repair.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervision and coordination of all activities associated with maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment

  • Execution of internal maintenance activities

  • Co-ordination of engineering work and acting as a liaison to Site Laboratory Services team

  • Preparing rotas for a team activities (e.g. lab cleans, area rotas)

  • Coordination of storage/inventory of consumables, assisting with ordering of items and creation of new stock items

  • Sample management and control of reference material or critical reagents

  • Review of area log books (e.g. equipment or cleaning log books)

  • Archiving of paperwork

  • Maintaining laboratory areas (e.g. workstations, freezers) and collaborating on OTi related issues.

  • Purchase of relevant new equipment and monitoring of equipment lifecycle

  • Maintaining key metrics around equipment performance and equipment utilization rates

  • Support of continuous improvement initiatives

  • Manage equipment lifecycle tool (analyse for systems to replace and make recommendations)

  • Lab housekeeping team coordination

  • Completion of safety documentation (e.g. COSHH/RA)

  • Would be placed on cold storage out of hours call-out rota

Key requirements:

  • BSc life sciences or equivalent relevant experience

  • Extensive experience of working in a busy laboratory coordinating activities is a must have.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

  • Able to perform routine biochemical laboratory calculations, including use of standard form numbers and buffer molarity calculations.

  • Highly organised

  • Experience of using electronic and paper based record systems

  • Able to work as part of teams with representatives from multiple departments and agree distribution of responsibility for activities

  • Comfortable working with defined processes and systems that require strict adherence to rules

  • High attention to detail especially when completing paperwork to maintain data integrity
