Within the company Lonza Bio R&D leads the discovery, design and development of innovative biologics platforms, processes and technologies that form the basis of our products.
We are currently looking to recruit a Bioinformatician to join our growing Research & Development (R&D) based in Cambridge. As a Bioinformatician, you will undertake expert analysis and interpretation of complex, data rich biological experiments in collaboration with your peers from other R&D research groups. You will implement bioinformatics pipelines with which to perform analyses and will maintain a strong internal and external scientific network through presentation and publication of your work.

Analysing and interpreting complex biological experiments performed in Lonza R&D
Identifying and implementing new sources of useful biological knowledge from the external environment
Developing and implementing bioinformatics pipelines
Maintaining an external professional network and develops scientific collaborations
Proficient with omics data analysis, including analysis of NGS data (e.g. RNA-seq, WGS).
Experience in processing, statistical analysis, and visualization of multi-dimensional biological data.
Strong coding skills in common programming languages (Python, R, …).
Proficient in using the UNIX command line.
Experience of using common bioinformatics databases.
Excellent communication skills, proficient in managing stakeholders.
Good time management and ability to set priorities.
Experience working within bioinformatics within the biotech/biopharma industry and scientific awareness that underpins your data analysis.
Experience of applying machine learning to biological data, including use of common ML frameworks (PyTorch, Keras, TensorFlow, …).
Experience in development and deployment of bioinformatics applications.
