Lonza, as a CDMO supporting Pharma & Biotech in their manufacturing, can benefit from a unique expertise in QC, microbiological testing and production, and is searching for a colleague in the Cell & Gene (Bioscience) Business Unit to strengthen the Export team.

As a Business Development Manager you will have a direct impact on the Development and Testing work of Pharma & Biotech customers by positioning yourself as a consultant at customer´s side and developing the sales of Cell & Gene (Bioscience) products and services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivers on monthly and annual sales targets.

  • Owns the full sales cycle (identification, acquisition, implementation, expansion, and renewal) for assigned accounts within their territory

  • Prospects new customers and accounts within their territory.

  • Manages the sales funnel from new opportunity generation through closing.

  • Develops mid and long term profitable business within their assigned accounts/territory.

  • Manages assigned distributors in the territory as needed in alignment with the team´s strategy.

  • Coordinates support resources within Lonza to meet customers’ needs.

  • Provides solutions from the Lonza Biosciences portfolio to address customers’ needs.

  • Understands and appropriately communicates the Biosciences portfolio and Lonza’s value proposition to its customers.  Develops product knowledge capabilities, applications, regulatory knowledge, and product justification in order to be recognized as the expert in the field.  Maintains account awareness and evolving market knowledge.

  • Organizes, plans, and schedules time to provide optimum and effective account and territory coverage.

  • When requested, acts as team lead to coach others to achieve high performance.

  • Record activities and client information in the CRM database on a daily and timely basis.

  • Proactively elaborates plans to optimize own and team´s workflow and improve customer support, agility or profitability.

  • Communicate effectively and collaborate successfully within own team as well as cross-functionally.

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences or technical discipline (eg. Cell Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology) required.

  • 0 - 5 years professional business experience

  • Language: English (Business Fluent) and Spanish (Business Fluent)

  • Computer software skills including Microsoft Office and CRM.

  • Interpersonal skills and comfort with public speaking in front of small groups.

  • Must be able to travel to accounts/sales meetings internationally (50%);

  • Demonstrates an ability and desire to learn from experience.  Is willing to take on new challenges.  Supports a culture of process improvement and problem solving.  Demonstrates an openness to trying new approaches.

Preferred:

  • Sales experience, to include contacts with Purchasing, Production, R&D

  • Experience in a related industry (drug discovery, drug manufacturing/QC, Cell & Gene Therapy, and the biotech/biopharma industry).
