Associate Director, Treasury Risk Control

The Associate Director, Treasury Controlling will support Head of Treasury Risk Control to create transparency and control over financial risks in Lonza and operational risks of the Treasury function. They will assess and analyze financial risks (i.e. foreign exchange, interest rate, commodity, liquidity and counterparty risk) and the processes of the Treasury function and design and implement effective processes/controls to mitigate the material risks. The Associate Director Treasury Controlling will also be responsible for managing treasury management system as a system administrator – including management of user profiles, static data and accounting processes/interfaces.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensures administration and technological standard of Treasury systems

  • Manages relations with system provider, interacts with other external stakeholders

  • Conducts and leads projects in defined scope (e.g. system implementation, exposure definition)

  • Supports Head of Treasury Risk Control to manage financial risks in scope (controls and reports on financial risks like currency exposure and liquidity; controls key performance indices for Treasury dashboard)

  • Supports Head of Treasury Risk Control to design/control the operations of Treasury, including controls to prevent operational risks

  • Oversees the setup of static data and user profiles in the Treasury management system

  • Oversees the accounting for all Treasury transactions in the Treasury management system – including setup of the accounting rules and interfaces to accounting systems SAP)

  • Suggests process improvements and Treasury function developments

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirement in area of responsibility

  • Guides local treasury staff in legal entities

Key requirements:

  • Solid knowledge of Capital Markets with special focus on FX, interest rates and commodities

  • Solid understanding of financial products including Forwards, Swaps, and Options

  • Sound understanding of financial market standards and Treasury processes – including understanding Treasury risks/compliance topics

  • Very good knowledge of Treasury management system administration, static data and accounting setups

  • Basic understanding of hedge accounting and how financial derivatives impact financial statements

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Compliance and regulatory skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
