LSI is looking for a Director of Operations in Mapleton, IL who will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They are responsible for developing processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. This role is accountable for maintenance of safe and legally compliant operations, cost control and overall leadership of an 80 person site and 4 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Influence business performance by providing insightful analysis, fact-based recommendations and proactively identify opportunities and risks

  • Strive for vision zero, zero accidents, incidents or permit exceedances and ensures all plant equipment and processes are maintained/operated in a safe manner

  • Develop and execute appropriate strategies for all components of Mapleton production to increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards

  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results and build a culture of continuous improvement

  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus

  • Ensure all plant equipment and processes are maintained/operated in a safe manner

  • Provide appropriate coaching and performance feedback to all direct reports and assure that the same is done for all site employees

  • Responsible for cost control and efficiency initiatives related to plant operations

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering

  • 10+ years in Production/Operations Management in a chemical manufacturing space

  • Knowledgeable and complies with all pertinent safety policies, rules and regulations including OSHA PSM mandates

  • Interpersonal and communication skills to be able to present business cases to senior management and work with multiple stakeholders

  • Maintain all quality certifications and oversight of overall plant quality
