Group Lead Surfactant Analytics

For Drug Product Services (DPS), our successful Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) branch, located in Basel, Switzerland and Stein, Switzerland, we have exciting opportunities. Become part of a group that enables its customers to meet some of the greatest challenges in patient treatment and join us by applying for the position as Group Lead Surfactant Analytics in the Forensic Chemistry team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform and supervise surfactant characterization studies and root cause investigations to support DPS projects as well as perform services for external customers

  • Compile, review and approve data, reports and SOPs

  • Lead and manage a group of lab scientists and interns by providing appropriate coaching and performance feedback

  • Develop and establish analytical technologies for surfactant characterization such as LC-FMA/ELSD/CAD/MS, GC-MS, FFA analysis, lipase assay, FOX assay, and related methods

  • Enable innovation and technical strategy projects, generate intellectual property as well as evaluate and implement new technologies as required

  • Closely interact with the other functions across Forensic Chemistry, DPs and the wider Lonza network

  • Ensure effective use of resources and supervise installation, qualification and maintenance of instruments in DPS Forensic Chemistry according current best practices and regulations

Key requirements:

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field

  • Substantial work experience in the Pharmaceutical or Chemical Industry, with strong focus on analytics

  • Excellent working knowledge in relevant analytical techniques

  • Experience in reporting, interpretation and documentation of complex analytical data

  • Good communication and inter-personal skills

  • Ability to work independently in a team

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English

  • Experience in surfactant analytics is an asset
