LSI is looking for Engineering & Maintenance Manager supporting our Rochester, NY location. This role will develop, execute, and monitor the capital spending budget and its associated projects for the facility ensuring an acceptable return on investment, replacement of worn or obsolete equipment, expansion of capacity to meet sales growth, equipment modifications or related business demands, cost reductions, as well as development of expanded productive capacity for new products. Responsible for supporting the Lonza EHS philosophy, “Vision Zero” in his/her job routine. Works to attain the purpose, “Zero injuries, Zero process incidents, Zero distribution incidents, and Zero environmental incidents.”

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the plant Mechanical Integrity Program, in adherence to applicable RMP and OSHA 1910.119 requirements.

  • Lead implementation of LSI Maintenance Excellence Strategy for Rochester site, focus on planning/scheduling, preventative/predictive maintenance and reduction of unplanned downtime and repetitive failures.

  • Plan, organize, and direct all maintenance related activities in regards to day to day maintenance and annual shut downs to best meet customer demand and maintain cost control.

  • Coordinates day to day maintenance and extended shut down repair work with the Operations Manager, Process Supervisors or other Team Leaders to assure a minimum amount of production interruptions and maintenance overtime.

  • Develop and implements training and certification programs that will ensure an adequate supply of skilled mechanics.

  • Maintains control of team spending within budgeted amounts. Ensures proper levels of manpower are allocated to meet capital project requirements. Provides support to Accounting in preparing annual budgets and current estimates.

  • Maintains control of outside maintenance contracts with assistance of Purchasing.

  • Oversees plant storeroom activities to assure the minimum required spare parts inventories are maintained.

  • Must acquire a working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

  • Makes regular safety and housekeeping inspections. Assures that your team maintains their work areas in a safe and neat condition.

  • Must be an active Focus (BBS) observer/participant, leads and encourages team to perform observations.

Key Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required

  • 8-15 years’ experience in chemical environment leading maintenance operations

  • PSM experience required

  • Mechanical Integrity experience required

  • cGMP experience a plus

  • Office and Plant environment, working in confined spaces and elevated

  • Shutdown and maintenance work may require off-hours support.

  • Must be capable of wearing appropriate PPE
